What is it?

The Jack Dean Members’ Development Fund was created after a generous bequest made to the club by Jack Dean. The fund exists to offer the opportunity of financial support to current members, or groups of current members, of Abingdon Senior YFC during the following activities:  

  • courses, conferences, training events or similar, organised by the YFC movement , or other short courses, classes, travel etc which are relevant to the members’ work in the movement, to the agricultural industry, to their local community, conservation or protection of the environment, or
  •  for any other purpose which the Trustees consider would be of benefit to an individual or group of members bearing in mind the constitutional status of the club.

To make an application to the fund please complete the form below. The fund is administered by the Club Trustees and Abingdon Senior YFC Club Leader(s). The Trustees will process the applications and will make a decision whether to make an award. The Trustees may ask applicants for interview or for further information. The award will be at their discretion. Successful applicants may be required to attend a club meeting as a guest speaker, give a report, or use their newly learned skills and in doing so will promote the fund.

How does it work?

1.  Purpose of the fund

2.  Administration

The fund will be administered by the Club Trustees and Abingdon Senior YFC Club Leader(s), to be appointed at the Club’s AGM.  Any of these people with a direct interest in any matter under discussion shall declare that interest.

An ‘award year will be that year starting from the Club’s AGM.  Appropriate application forms will beavailable from the Club Secretary or Trustees.

The Trustees will process the applications and may then make an award.  The Trustees reserve the right to call applicants for interview or ask for further information. The award will be at their discretion and their decision will be final.

3.  Maintenance of the Fund

By transfer of a proportion of the Club’s assets as agreed at an AGM £12,500 will be invested in the fund following a bequest from Mr Jack Dean.

 

4.  Annual report

Each year the Trustees will prepare an annual report including matters of finance to be submitted at the Club’s AGM.

 

5.  Termination of the Fund

A resolution may be passed at an AGM or an extraordinary general meeting to withdraw part of, or the entire Fund
